Halsway Manor Recorder Orchestra Weekend
Friday 4th - Sunday 6th February 2022
Fully booked
Due to COVID the course in 2022 will have fewer participants to allow for social distancing.
recorders@plymouth hosts a Recorder Orchestra Weekend during the
first weekend in February. The weekend is a great opportunity to explore the huge diversity of
recorder orchestra repertoire available today in a beautiful venue with convivial company.
And, of course, tutored by some of the very best recorder orchestra conductors in the UK. In
2022 the weekend will be conducted by Helen Hooker and Steve Marshall at Halsway Manor,
Crowcombe, Somerset. This course is not suitable for beginners or descant only players. Priority
will be given to members of Recorders at Plymouth and those who have previously attended the
weekend.
Helen Hooker will be the orchestral conductor and Steve Marshall will take the non orchestral sessions. The desks for the orchestra are carefully chosen so that the balance is right. For those experienced orchestral players, the weekend will also be a fabulous experience. At the end of the weekend the sound will be just amazing. In addition Halsway Manor is a lovely venue set in its own grounds. As it will be winter the log fires will be blazing thus giving a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The cost of the weekend for residents varies from £270 - £320 depending on the type of accommodation you choose. It includes tuition, music, all meals and accommodation. You may opt to attend as a non resident the fee of £202 includes tuition, music, lunches and dinners. Morning Coffee and Afternoon Tea is provided for all course participants. Application forms will be available from Jan in September 2021. If you are not already on the mailing list and would like to receive a brochure do let Jan know, email address is jan.epps57@gmail.com
